  7. The Artisoft AE-3 Ethernet adapter supports three kinds of Ethernet
  8. cabling -- thin, thick and twisted-pair, which means you can initially
  9. connect your network with the less expensive twisted-pair cable commonly
  10. found prewired in newer office buildings. When your network expands
  11. beyond twisted-pair's 100-meter limitations, you can expand the length of
  12. your network with thin or thick Ethernet... without the major expense of
  13. replacing your adapter cards.

  15. And because it's 100% downward compatible with Novell's NE2000
  16. drivers, the AE-3 is not only the smart choice for LANtastic customers, but
  17. also the best choice for Novell customers. Not only because it's more
  18. affordable, but because it has better features.

  20. Like the NE2000, our adapter offers 16K buffer RAM, which is twice
  21. as much RAM as you'll get from most other adapters. But only our AE-3
  22. is upgradeable to 64K, which means you can get information off the cable
  23. much faster so your computer can move on to other jobs.

  25. Plus, the AE-3 gives you increased efficiency with more IRQ options
  26. (Interrupt Request Lines) than other adapters. These additional IRQs can

  31. you can boot up a diskless workstation from a network server. Each

  39. an 8-bit slot. The AE-3 auto-senses between these two modes and
  40. automatically switches itself for higher performance.

  42. An on-board transceiver drives cable lengths up to 300 meters (984
  43. feet) per segment with thin Ethernet cable and can handle 30 nodes per
  44. segment without repeaters. Using an external transceiver with thick
  45. Ethernet cable, the AE-3 supports network segments of up to 500 meters
  46. (1640 feet) and 100 nodes per segment.
